The rolling hills of central Texas are near and dear to my heart, so you can imagine how thrilled I was when my friend Coley, from 3 of Cups Design + Florals, asked me to photograph a styled shoot at Spicewood Vineyards earlier this September. We had an amazing time, playing dress up, drinking wine, gallivanting around, and making beautiful photos. Check out the magic below! As the temperatures drop and colors start to change, Sarah and I are starting to feel wedding season winding down. For the past two months we’ve been busy bees, with shoot after shoot alongside launching a new magazine project in the Milwaukee area. Life has truly felt like a whirlwind, and it’s hard to believe it went by so fast. Last weekend we took a much needed day off. A leisurely day picking apples and hiking was just what Sarah and I needed to rejuvenate; the weather was perfect, the apples were crisp, the colors were bold. And the best part is, we finally had some free time to take photos just for fun, just for ourselves.
I first met Marisa and Jim in a small coffee shop on the East side of Austin. It was serendipitous that this beautiful couple, who was engaged in Texas, was moving up to Milwaukee in the summer and planned to marry there as well. I’m so happy our schedules aligned so I was able to photograph their engagement session in my second home city – Austin. In late August, Sarah and I photographed their wedding at the Wind Point Lighthouse in Racine, and despite the day’s unpredictable weather, it could not have been more perfect. Their ceremony was intimate and moving…full of a lot of happy tears, sunshine, and even a little light rain. The party finished their night off with dinner, drinks, and teeny tiny desserts at Braise in Milwaukee. Wishing these two the best of luck in their future together!
Ellen and David are a sweet and driven couple; they spent part of their engagement across the country from one another to focus on school and their careers, but this past summer David was able to make the move down to Dallas to be with Ellen. Oh happy days! It was such a pleasure to walk around the Dallas Arboretum with them earlier this month. Summer definitely hasn’t let up, and we were met with Texas heat and a bright sun! Check out more images from our warm and bright adventure!
Marisa and Jim are a couple after our own hearts; though the two are getting married in Wisconsin, it turns out they share our love for Texas as well! It really doesn’t get much more “Austin” than having your shoot begin at Lou Neff Point, wandering down the trail by Barton Creek, and ending with a sunset finale in Zilker Park. We were so fortunate to photograph their engagement session in the heart of Austin right before their big move up to the Cream City. Can’t wait to see y’all (and your little dog Nugget!) in Milwaukee!
We love working in the great outdoors, but sometimes you need to take a break and mix it up a little! Check out this mini-engagement session at the Long Center – we love the geometric urban feel that the space provided, and of course how adorably in love the couple is.
